We encourage involvement of as
many parents as possible

Saint Augustine's School

Parents & Carers

The Parents Peer Support Group meet on a regular basis, where an opportunity is provided for parents to discuss and share their experiences, any concerns, etc.

This group has been in existence for a number of years and has proved particularly helpful to parents.

The aims of the group are as follows:

  • Friendship - get to know other parents
  • Support
  • Pooling of experiences
  • Sharing what one parent/guardian knows, to other members of the Group.

Here is some feedback about the Parent Peer Support Group:

"It's great to be with parents/guardians who understand what it is like to be a parent/guardian of a child with a mild learning disability".

"I really look forward to coming together as parents. There is no other way we could meet for a cup of tea and a chat".

"I have begun to relax more just from listening to other parents, especially the parents of a child older than mine, as they have told me things improve".

Parents Association

We would welcome your involvement or contribution in any way. Saint Augustine's School Parents Association meets monthly in the school during school term. The Parents Association produce their own newsletter outlining their activities and are very interested in having the involvement of as many parents as possible.

The Parents Association also host valuable information sessions of relevant topics for parents of children with Intellectual Disabilities and undertake fundraising initiatives which are a very important aspect for any school.
