
03 May Sugar – We Investigate!!
Students checked out the sugar content of foods by examining food labelling.
They used the below information to evaluate what foods were high in sugar.
Low sugar: means the product contains
no more than 5g of sugar per 100g
High Sugar: means the product contains
10g or more of sugar per 100g.
Students were particularly interested in the sugar content found in yogurts. They were surprised to find some yogurts are very high in sugar. They examined various labels found on yogurts and discovered the following:
Flavoured yogurts have a lot of sugar.
Low fat yogurts are often high in sugar.
Natural yogurts got the thumbs up!!
